The Green Lion Eats the Sun

Assistant wasteLAnd director and trombonist, Matt Barbier, presents a solo performance based (mostly) on putting aside his slide to focus on alternate instruments, playing single and double-belled euphonium, alphorn, and trumpet. He presents a concert built around the U.S. premiere of Liza Lim’s The Green Lion Eats the Sun for double-belled euphonium with additional world premieres by wasteLAnd director Elise Roy, Andrew Greenwald, and wasteLAnd’s featured composer, Michelle Lou. Matt will also perform recent works by Kurt Isaacson and call for scores selectee Ryan Fellhauer, as well as underrepresented music by Adriana Hölszky.
